Started a little late today. Spent morning watching the news.
Talked with Barb in the hotel office this morning, learned no room available at sister hotel in Anchorage. Most people still stranded, awaiting flights. Two couples here at this hotel trying to fly out since Tuesday, one rebooked for next Tuesday and the other Thursday!
Decided to stay at this hotel in Palmer for another night, tour the area today.
Drove around town, saw interesting farms originated by the colonists brought here in the mid 1930s
Visited Musk Ox farm. Animals raised and bred for there coats, which when shed, provide for incredibly soft, warm and light material. The hair is given to several Alaskan west coast communities. Each create hats and scarves with there own regional design. Beautiful items are available for purchase.
Tour guide was Eva, from Latvia. I was able to understand her heavy accent, must be from practice when I was growing up?!?
Driving through the eastern part of area, witnessed some very pretty scenery
Next stop was at a reindeer farm. It was interesting to walk among the animals, as they are very tame. Will have pictures soon. Also had large moose and elk.
Able to do some shopping for a warm flannel shirt, blank CDs, as well as restock groceries for the road.
Heading to Anchorage tomorrow, may end up back here if rooms not available. Not much of an issue since Anchorage is about 45 minutes from Palmer.
THANKS for visiting!!!

My next stop was at a reindeer farm... |
...That also had moose... |
...Same moose... |
...And unusual black tail deer. |
Another black tail deer. |
This one was looking for food. Though I did not feed the animals, the people that run the farm provide feed for the tourist to use. |
A couple of interesting antlers! |
It was intriguing to walk among these animals. |
This moose was kept separate from all other animals as it was not very friendly. |
A closer look at the not-so-friendly animal! |
